Helping Everyone Succeed is what we are doing at HES.
Dr. Seuss' birthday will be celebrated on March 3rd this year (his actual birthday was the 2nd). This is a great time to emphasize the fun of reading with your child. Read their library books with them, read their reading books (there are lots of great stories there), go to the public library in Hanceville to check out books or look up reading activities on the computers. Read magazines or books yourself to show your students that reading is fun and important! The teachers would love to point you toward activities and great books to read. www.seussville.com is the NEA's site with activities. You can find more by Googling "Dr. Seuss Week"
PTO will meet on Tuesday, March 11th. The morning meeting will be at 9:00 am in the 4th grade conference room and the evening meeting at 5:00 pm in the library. Refreshments will be served at both. The teacher with the most parents/guardians to show up will receive 500 extra copies to their copying budget. This is huge for many teachers! AND it is good for you and your child if you know what is going on at school.

Thanks to all who bought or sold hams and/or turkeys at Christmas. We made $1,090 toward purchasing computers for our school. We will be a wireless campus soon, and many of our computers will not work. We must purchase several, so that money will really help. We are considering a sale for Easter hams. Please let Mrs. Lakin know if you are interested. THANKS!
We collect a number of items for school and charity. Please check below, clip and send to school to help us get free products and raise money for our school and charities.
We collect Box Tops for Education to earn money for our school. Each label is worth ten cents. Please clip and send to school. Click here to see a list of participating products. Just put them in a sandwich bag or envelope. To help your younger child with math, count and place 50 in each bag. You can send any amount, any time. We have received about $1,500 worth of box tops this year. Please remember to clip them and ask your friends and relatives to save them for us. We can send you a container if you need one. Please check the website to enter for bonus tops or to check for merchants that give points: www.boxtops4education.com; we have received a number of points that way.
We collect can tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ronald McDonald houses provide housing for families with children that are patients in hospitals around the world.
We collect Coke Rewards to get free products for our school. You can set up your own account and enter codes, then donate them to Hanceville Elementary. We just received a first aid kit and whistles for our emergency backpacks that each teacher has. We will get more supplies as we get more points. Thanks!
